Some Pictures of the Planning process:

As always, when I start a new project, quite a bit of time will be spent on the planning. For inspiration I read a lot of books (i.e. Don Troiani's books "Civil War" & "Regiments & Uniforms of the Civil War" is just brilliant), surfed the Internet and also watched some of my favourite ACW Movies (i.e. "Gettysburg" and "Gods & Generals").

The next stage was to see what kind of appropriate Miniatures I could find and how I would position them. As you can see on the pictures below, the project went through a few stages. Firstly, I wanted to use some of the Plastic Figures from the Perry's ACW Infantry Box with some minor conversion but did not like the "wooden" look they had, considering they were to represent men under fire.

Luckily the Perry Twins released just a few weeks after some more suitable packs, which were perfect for my project and I ordered them shortly after.

When I found the right composition, I usually take some pictures of it all. It will help me to position the figures rightly after painting again and also it helped me to stay motivated because here I get a glimpse of the finished "look" .

The Figures I used in the end came from the following packs:

3 Figures from ACW28 - "Confederate Infantry in ‘shell ‘Jackets skirmishing"

2 Figures from ACW39 - "Confederate Infantry command standing"

1 Figure from ACW23 - "Casualties"

1 Figure from ACW1 - Hard Plastic Infantry Box

1 Figure from Foundry CWK24 - "Casualties"
